We enjoyed the joy and material comforts that rapid urban construction and development bring us, but how many of us see what we have paid for it? With the new buildings standing up, the old house is disappearing. The history of the city, through many decades, even hundreds of years’ accumulation, has been without a pity throwed to the rubbish dump! We are losing these old buildings, historical information and symbols acceleratingly, the local traditional architectural symbols and elements are more and more away from us. What we could do to make the old buildings and city’s history regenerate and continue the inheritance, and leaving the future generations some memories of this city's as far as possible, this is a question.
我们在享受着城市快速建设与发展带来的喜悦和物质享受之中，也不能不看到，新建筑日新月异，老房子日渐消失，许多几十年、几百年积淀下来的城市历史传统建筑，已经被毫不可惜地抛到建筑垃圾堆，老城历史信息和符号呈加速丢失之势，本土传统的建筑符号和元素，也离我们越来越远。
城市的发展是必然的，城市的改造也是不可避免的，在此过程中，传统与现代、历史与未来应当和谐共生，长期共存。那些穿越时空、历经风雨而留存的老街区、老建筑以其鲜活的物质形态，积淀着城市的文化和历史，展示着不同时代先辈们的生活方式和社会形态，它们是延续城市历史文脉、展现地域特色的根，是我们共有的历史财富和精神家园。
在城市快速发展中，我们应该带着一份责任感，带着一份忧患意识，注意保护、保留一些有代表性的历史街区和特色建筑，通过规划、维修、整治、利用，使它们得以再生和延续传承，留下城市发展过程的脉络，尽可能给后人留下一些对这座城市的记忆。
